Sheep Mountain Lodge

Had a great weekend trip to the Sheep Mountain Lodge, at mile 113 on the Glenn Highway. That's back on the road I came in on. It was super fun to do that drive again in a different season--the scenery was totally different but just as stunning.

Anyway, it was such a gloriously relaxing weekend--a little skiing, lots of sitting on the couch playing Uno and Yahtzee. The food at the lodge's restaurant was some of the best I've had in Alaska. One of the proprietors has a sled dog team and is going to run the Iditarod in just 2 weeks! On the way back we stopped off at a friend's awesome cabin in Chickaloon. In addition to the awesome cabin, they have an awesome outhouse with an awesome view.

In other news, I was depressed to learn that the Mountain Goats are playing 2 shows in Fairbanks this weekend but none in Anchorage. WTF? If only my clerk salary could abide the $250 plane ticket.
